Katie Couric interviewed me for @KATIECOURIC, her long-form online interview show. It was the perfect venue for discussing Hamlet’s BlackBerry and we had an excellent conversation.
It was clear she had read the book – not a given, especially with media stars – and she asked really probing questions. We talked about digital gadgets at home, at work and in church. We talked about iPhones and the brain, and the relationship (or non-relationship) between BlackBerrys and sex.
But for me, the best part of the interview was when we got my talking about my favorite self-help book, the ’70s classic How to Be Your Own Best Friend, and its argument that a good life begins with the ability to be happy alone.
We agreed it’s not an easy skill to master. A lifelong challenge, really.
